As someone who’s been at The Ticker a long while, something one notices is that things come and go.
For instance, for Spring 2022 Issue 1, the business section reported on the opening of the flip’d by IHOP in the Flatiron District. Now, it’s closed.
But another thing the editor gets to see are the things that stay — for now. I passed by an empty storefront with a teenager-sized Statue of Liberty with sunglasses after watching a theatre performance at Baruch College.
Little did I know, the space and statue would be used for a wine shop.
But goings — we miss reporting opportunities, too. No reporters for the news section took the assignment to report on LGBTQ+ History Month at Baruch in 2022, but I snapped a photo of a festive setup.
