Greetings, all.
Welcome to the place that Caryl Anne Francia has reserved for organizing the words she writes, pictures she takes and illustrations she draws. This is both an outlet for professional use and creative expression. With that said, feel free to peruse.
I currently write news and features related to endowments, foundations as well as emerging and diverse investment managers for Pensions & Investments. Outside of that financial trade publication, I am known to edit or translate a thing or two for close peers, as well as mentoring journalism students.
Ad astra per aspera.

What I do โ and what you may inquire about:
- News and feature writing: I particularly enjoy writing profiles of people and organizations. As much as I like what I get to report on now, I’m seeking variation in what I get to write on.
- Creative writing: My major track was journalism and creative writing โ so I’ve taken courses on playwriting, film writing and creative nonfiction. I particular enjoy writing people’s stories, so if I could write a memoir or biography someday, I would.
- (Copy) editing: Before I fell into business journalism, I was a general copy editor who adhered to AP style. I still use my skills from then.
- Photography and illustration: Photojournalism is a skill I’ve honed since high school, while I was also one to provide graphics for my college paper. I really wanted to be a (visual) artist when I was four years old.
- Mentorship: If I wasn’t pursuing journalism, I would be teaching history most likely. I still mentor journalism students at public schools or universities, and participate in roundtables and conferences on student journalism. I used to be a teaching assistant for Japanese language classes, and I used to be a tutor in that and algebra.

Good chaos to come!

A collection of profiles and other stories on institutional investors
I figured I’d try to better organize my portfolio of profiles for Pensions & Investments.
A little encouragement goes a long way โ enough to write a story about it.
Everyone has a story to tell. For some career storytellers, they start at their high school newspaper.

Taking a book about Audrey Hepburn in Paris, France, all around New York City and Long Island.
Bringing life to MENA culture at Baruch
A feature on the Middle East and North Africa Society at Baruch College was my last club profile for The Ticker and one of the most profound feature-writing experiences Iโve had.
Business Writing Portfolio: The Ticker, Vol. 123
Closing on my last volume of The Ticker as the business editor, I can’t believe how much of a rollercoaster ride it has been.

As for the pieces of wisdom I want to impart โ without fear or regret โ take a deep breath, move one step forward and try something new.
