Haiku #25: Cracks in the Sky

If the sky was to break in pieces of pottery, rainbows would be the gold that mends it. For those who aren’t familiar with the practice, kintsugi is the Japanese art of using gold lacquer to repair broken pottery pieces.

As promised two weeks ago, here’s a continuation of this Ame agari series. In this case, I came up with the English version before the Japanese version, so I struggled in writing the latter. Nevertheless, here it is.

Cracks in the Sky

雨上がり

金継ぎみたい

虹と空

Ame agari

Kintsugi mitai

Niji to sora

***

It’s after the rain

When the rainbows and sky look

Like kintsugi

***
