Something for Audrey

For the past week, I had the pleasure of doing Japanese to English translation for Rare Audrey Hepburn, a blog and project aimed at publishing a book of rare photos of the eponymous actress. Since I’ve gotten to know Hepburn through movies and taped interviews, I’ve admire the Hepburn historians who dedicate their time researching her, looking for and identifying photos, collecting personal items, and writing insightful pieces pertaining to the preceding actions.

I gave my time to translate a Japanese magazine feature – including an article and captions – from 1959 about Hepburn’s trip with her then-husband Mel Ferrer to Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. Incidentally, the post with the scans and my translations went up on their wedding anniversary. This was my first time doing translations outside of a classroom. Although I am an amateur at this sort of work, I would like to improve on it.

If you can, consider subscribing to the Patreon account to support the project, as well as to access my translations. I found my new favorite Japanese term.
