The World in Full Bloom: Green, green, green

Disclaimer: There’s more than just green in this installment.

And this isn’t entirely about flowers. There are also trees and cats in this one.

I was told to go visit the cats at the sanctuary on Roosevelt Island since I said I didn’t have plans for Memorial Day weekend. Because the person who told me to visit the cats is also an ailurophile, I decided to bring my DSLR camera with me with the intent to send this person pictures of these cats one day — not thinking this person would message me hours after visiting.

I’ve only found out about this place on New Year’s Eve, and I’ve become a regular visitor since. Watching the cats roam — sometimes sleep or hide — has brought peace of mind.

Accompanied are flowers and trees. What I particularly liked about the angle I was in was that I could see the light filtering through the leaves — or what is called 木漏れ日 or komorebi in Japanese — to create a serene effect. There were also some blossoms — not almond blossoms, but a kind of blossom I can’t put my finger on.

Bonus: I was visiting the graveyard at Trinity Church on Wall Street. Beautiful forget-me-nots add a statement to a place where those buried are remembered by future generations.
