Connecticut has its gems. The Bruce Museum in Greenwich is one of them.
I took a day trip there to see the art, not expecting some live animals, science exhibits and some interesting hoaxes that people have tried to pass off as real things — e.g. Big Foot.
But the art collection is a gem.
Perhaps the stand-out piece in this place is “Plexus no. 43” by Gabriel Dawe — multicolored strings coming down from the edge near the ceiling of a window in the museum arranged in a way to look like a rainbow is coming through. It appears as the featured image in this entry.
This piece reminded me so much of the works of Chiharu Shiota, who does similar work with strings.
