Sometime in late 2020, my mother and I caught a broadcast of “Lilies of the Field” (1963). It was a wholesome story, to say the least, of a man who is dragged by East German nuns to build a chapel in Arizona and ends up getting the job done with unlikely help, despite the nuns being harsh. Sidney Poitier’s Oscar win was deserved for his performance in this film. We still talk about how nice this film was.
Watching “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” has been on my winter break bucket list, and that task shall be done.
I initially posted this illustration on my social media platforms with “Poitier” misspelled as “Poiter,” which I usually do and correct myself. In addition, it was after my second time posting the commemorative art that I realized I wrote “Band of Angels” twice, but I’m not going to redo the post again. Instead, I’ll just acknowledge it and live with it.
