While in Vienna, my family visited the Naschmarkt, a popular market selling food coming from Austria and other nations including India and Italy.
Baumkuchen is a German ring-shaped cake, similar to a funnel cake except there is a hole rather than a pit. I was familiar with the cake through Japanese grocers that sell factory-made baumkuchen slices. On this occasion. the baumkuchen was authentic. It wasn’t as thick as the Japanese baumkuchen, but it was flakey.
The highlight of the baumkuchen I ordered was that it was mit Nutella.
